Lets due an update.

This update is long over due.

We had a total of 7 crias this year, 5 male and 2 female. This was this 1st year that we had more males than females. Our 4 year total is about 13 females and 7 males, still not bad. Here is the good news 3 of the males born this year are show worthy, this will be the 1st time we will be in the show ring with males born on the farm.

We are working towards getting our herd to whites too light fawn. Breeding goals have now been set and we are moving forward. We also have made other choices on how we are going to run the farm, things are looking great! We belive that the alpaca industry needs to move towards a true livestock model, and that is the direction our farm is going.

What does a true livestock mean? Well you can either give me a call to ask, or you can wait for the next update. My goal is to do an update once a week.

National Alpaca Farm Tour 2011

What a great weekend!!

The weather was perfect for the 3rd year that we were part of this event. It seems to grow in size every year.

This year we added concessions provided by the local 4-H club, they served alpaca bugers and brats. They sold out of both the burgers and brats both days!!

The 4-H club also set up an obstcale course so all the kids that came could take an alpaca though it.

The 1st year (2009) we did the farm tour we had about 100 vistors.
The 2nd year (2010) we had about 200 vistors.
This year 2011 we had over 800 people come to the farm!!

Next year (2012) we are planing even more fun things to do, and boy do we have some things in the works.

Need to thank the Isanti 4-H alpaca project for being such a big part of the weekend, and looking forward to having you back next year!!

Isanti county fair 2011

Wow!!! It was sooo much fun!!

This was the 1st time alpacas were at the Isanti County Fair for the 4H program. There were 13 total animals there, 11 alpacas from our farm and two lamas from two other farms.

The 4H'ers have been coming the our farm for the past couple of months to train the alpacas and to help out with afternoon chores. What a great feeling knowing that all the cria's are halter trained and I do not have to do chores a couple times a week!

We have 4 alpacas (4H'ers) going to the Minnesota state fair, we are so proud of them and we are looking forward to seeing them at the Minnesota state fair.

By the way the Isanti County Fair now was the largest Alpaca 4H program in the state!!

Next year the goal is to have 25 alpacas at the county fair!!
